Celebrating World Opera Day 2021 #OperaReboot

World Opera Day is celebrated each year on 25 October. This year’s edition explored the theme “Opera Reboot”, referring to the challenging context as theatres around the world resumed activity. Former production models have been challenged and many have invested thought and time in re-inventing. Opera companies are re-opening with new ambitions.

On the occasion of World Opera Day 2021, Mind the Gap partner Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL) created a behind-the-scenes video for THRIVE!, the latest edition of the Global Science Opera. GSO is the first opera initiative in history to perform operas as a global community, involving students, teachers & artists across the world.

This World Opera Day also looked at how we can prepare young artists, professionals & educators for successful opera careers. MTG partner Garsington Opera are exploring opera jobs in their new digital series GO CREATE - here's a quick intro from Creative Director Karen Gillingham:
